What You’ll Be Doing

As a Senior Accountant at Nextech, you’ll play a central role in ensuring the financial accuracy, integrity, and operational efficiency of our growing organization. You’ll lead core functions like journal entries, reconciliations, sales tax compliance, and debt reporting — all while mentoring junior staff and driving process improvements across departments.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

Month-End Close & General Accounting

  • Prepare and post key journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts
  • Analyze financial statements, identify variances, and escalate unusual trends
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and audit processes
  • Review and mentor work completed by junior accounting staff
  • Assist with financial data preparation in reporting systems (e.g., OneStream, Oracle HFM)

Debt Reporting & Reconciliation

  • Maintain accurate debt schedules, track principal/interest payments
  • Prepare journal entries for debt service and related accruals

Sales Tax Compliance

  • Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns
  • Generate monthly sales tax reports, calculate taxable revenue by state
  • Collaborate with the Tax team to resolve discrepancies and ensure compliance

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external partners
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls and Nextech accounting policies
  • Proactively seek out improvements that streamline processes and enhance accuracy

What We’re Looking For

We're seeking a driven and collaborative accounting professional with a passion for accuracy and improvement.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive experience in accounting, including GL and reporting
  • Direct experience with sales tax reporting and debt schedule management
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and accounting controls
  • High proficiency in Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, IF formulas; VBA a plus)
  • ERP experience (Oracle, SAP, NetSuite preferred)
  • Familiarity with ASC 842 and ASC 606 is strongly preferred
  • Background in large or private equity-backed companies ($100M+ revenue) is a plus
  • Experience in the HVAC or field service industry is desirable

Physical Requirements

  • Hybrid work schedule: 3 days onsite, 2 remote
  • Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods (up to 8 hours/day)
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 15 lbs
  • Occasional walking, bending, kneeling, and light movement
  • Must be comfortable using office equipment and video conferencing tools
  • May require occasional travel
  • May be required to use a smartphone for secure login via QR code authentication
