What You’ll Be Doing

As a Cost Estimating Specialist, you’ll play a vital role in building accurate, competitive HVAC/R project estimates that fuel Nextech’s nationwide success. This is your chance to sharpen your technical knowledge, grow within a high-performing operations team, and contribute directly to project wins and customer satisfaction.

You will:

  • Review technician notes, specs, and site information to prepare accurate estimates and proposals.

  • Ensure price accuracy across parts, labor, billing, and supplier invoices.

  • Communicate essential information to field personnel and management in alignment with company policy.

  • Help ensure tasks and calls are completed quickly and professionally while supporting field and operations teams.

  • Monitor quotes and pending work orders, contributing to a rapid 24-hour quote turnaround standard.

  • Review all quotes for accuracy and forward them to the proper internal approver.

  • Maintain accurate documentation for all estimates and proposals.

  • Coordinate with suppliers to secure correct pricing when needed.

  • Identify unclear or missing details and seek clarification before preparing estimates.

  • Uphold company policies, support a safe work environment, and interact professionally with coworkers, managers, customers, and partners.

  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Education & experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Strong computer skills, including advanced Excel capabilities.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

  • Estimating experience in commercial, industrial, or design-build projects preferred.

  • Field installation or service experience is a plus.

  • Understanding of HVAC/R components, refrigeration systems, and controls preferred.

  • Experience in HVAC or other service-based industries preferred.

Physical Requirements

This role is primarily office-based with hybrid flexibility, but it does involve typical physical expectations for an office and technology-enabled environment:

  • Ability to work continuously in an office environment and/or remote office setup.

  • Ability to operate a computer and standard office equipment (phone, copier, printer, etc.) throughout the day.

  • Ability to sit at a computer for extended periods (up to 8 hours), with the option to alternate between sitting and standing as needed.

  • Occasional lifting of up to 15 lbs. (such as files, laptop equipment, or office supplies).

  • Continuous use of vision, hearing, and verbal communication; frequent twisting and talking; occasional walking, reaching, bending, crouching, pushing/pulling, and kneeling.

  • Rarely required climbing.

  • Ability to travel occasionally for meetings, training, or site-related needs.

  • May be required to use a personal smartphone with a camera capable of reading QR codes for two-factor authentication and secure system access.
